Goodreads Synopsis:

Divorce lawyer Victoria Slade has seen enough unhappy endings to swear off marriage forever. That doesn’t mean she’s opposed to casual dating—just not with her cocky new neighbor, who is as gorgeous and tempting as he is off-limits. But once she agrees to take on his sister’s case, she’s as determined to win as ever—even if that means teaming up with Ford…

Investigative journalist Ford Dixon is bent on finding the man who got his sister pregnant and left her high and dry. He’s willing to partner with Victoria, despite the fact that the beautiful brunette gets under his skin like no other woman. He might not be looking to settle down, but there’s no denying the scorching attraction between them. Still, the more time he spends with Victoria, the more he realizes that the one woman as skeptical about love as he is might be the only woman he could really fall for…

After the amazing It Happened One Wedding, I was pretty excited to read this one. I’ve been committed to this series and Julie James because she’s like my GoodReads first crush 😀

Whoever reads the synopsis for this book would expect something really really great with this. However, I did not get that feeling of complete satisfaction as I did with Love Irresistably or It Happened One Wedding.

Personally, the reason that I did not click with this book is, the characters. They’re likable on their own but when they come together, it’s not that good. Don’t get me wrong, Mrs. Julie James still writes amazing romance lines and banter. Beyond that, I did not really feel the connection between the two as I did with Vaughn and Sydney in It Happened One Wedding. I kind of felt their relationship fell flat for me whenever they come together. I feel like I’m not clearing up this point, but I hope I am because I am getting repetitive xD

I enjoyed the side story with Nicole and her daughter. I was glad she got the closure she needed.

I really admired Victoria on her own she was a great heroine and Ford as well but I am disappointed with the wasted potential their story could have been.
