At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. "Waiting On" Wednesday #05: The Eternity Cure

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s WoW is:

Title: This Savage Song23299512

by Victoria Schwab

Book 1 of Monsters of Verity series

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy/Dystopia

Expected Release Date: July 5th, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:

There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from acclaimed author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books, This Savage Song is a must-have for fans of Holly Black, Maggie Stiefvater, and Laini Taylor.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives. In This Savage Song, Victoria Schwab creates a gritty, seething metropolis, one worthy of being compared to Gotham and to the four versions of London in her critically acclaimed fantasy for adults, A Darker Shade of Magic. Her heroes will face monsters intent on destroying them from every side—including the monsters within.

I have yet to meet someone who is not excited for this book..

it does remind me of Kagawa’s Blood of Eden series but if I learned anything from Schwab’s Shades of Magic, it is that this lady knows how to weave her magic world.. so I’m so excited for this..

"Waiting On" Wednesday #05: The Eternity Cure

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s WoW is:

Title: Eligible: A Modern Retelling of Pride and Prejudice25852870

by Curtis Sittenfeld

Book 4 of The Austen Project series

Genre: Adult Retelling

Expected Release Date: April 19th, 2016

Goodreads Synopsis:

This version of the Bennet family—and Mr. Darcy—is one that you have and haven’t met before: Liz is a magazine writer in her late thirties who, like her yoga instructor older sister, Jane, lives in New York City. When their father has a health scare, they return to their childhood home in Cincinnati to help—and discover that the sprawling Tudor they grew up in is crumbling and the family is in disarray.

Youngest sisters Kitty and Lydia are too busy with their CrossFit workouts and Paleo diets to get jobs. Mary, the middle sister, is earning her third online master’s degree and barely leaves her room, except for those mysterious Tuesday-night outings she won’t discuss. And Mrs. Bennet has one thing on her mind: how to marry off her daughters, especially as Jane’s fortieth birthday fast approaches.

Enter Chip Bingley, a handsome new-in-town doctor who recently appeared on the juggernaut reality TV dating show Eligible. At a Fourth of July barbecue, Chip takes an immediate interest in Jane, but Chip’s friend neurosurgeon Fitzwilliam Darcy reveals himself to Liz to be much less charming. . . .

And yet, first impressions can be deceiving.

Wonderfully tender and hilariously funny, ELIGIBLE both honors and updates Austen’s beloved tale. Tackling gender, class, courtship, and family, Sittenfeld reaffirms herself as one of the most dazzling authors writing today.

goodreads-badge-add-plus-71eae69ca0307d077df66a58ec068898

It is the first time I actually knew this series existed and there were 3 prequels written (S&S, Emma and Northanger Abbey) each by a different authors. P&P is one of my favorite Jane Asuten books as many of the women in the planet. And I think no matter how many retellings there will be, I’ll always be curious to see what the authors will bring to this loved story.

Goodreads Synopsis:

For a select group of girls, the Glittering Court offers a shot at a life they’ve only ever dreamed of, one of luxury, glamour, and leisure. To high-born Adelaide, whose wealthy family is forcing her into a loveless marriage, the Glittering Court represents something else: the chance to chart her own destiny, and adventure in an unspoiled, prosperous new land across the sea.

After a chance meeting with the dazzling Cedric Thorn, Adelaide poses as a servant to join the crop of impoverished girls he promises to transform into proper ladies. But her familiarity with upper class life comes with a price: she must hide her identity from her new friends, mysterious refugee Mira and fiery former laundress Tamsin, and most importantly, from Cedric himself—even though she’s falling in love with him.

Everything begins to crumble when Cedric discovers Adelaide’s ruse, and she catches the eye of a powerful young governor, who wants her for a wife. She didn’t leave the gilded cage of her old life behind just to become someone else’s property. But nothing is as daunting—or as wonderful—as the potent, forbidden attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. One that, if acted on, would make them both outcasts in a wild, dangerous, uncharted world, and possibly lead them to their deaths.

1. This is a Richelle Mead book and I love her

2. The marketers are calling it The Selection meets Reign..

Even if that was purely for marketing reasons only I’d be interested..

I hope Richelle Mead strikes again with this series..
